Its here :) and what I have been up to.

After months of excitement and trepidation its finally here, The Book :) its wonderful to finally be able to hold it in my hands, Maggie Grey and Michael Wicks

have done a wonderful job, and I can't stop smiling when I look at it



I have been busy doing other things, I made this using Lutradur, molding paste and paints, pelmet vilene and Fibre In-Form foils

I am half way through making this and having a bit of trouble fitting the base so have put it to one side while I think about it, it was inspired by a ceramic ornament on my mantle piece it looks like copper and I have been wanting to make something this shape for ages, not as easy to put together as it was in my head





The close ups are a truer colour than the large picture



I bought these two a couple of weeks ago and haven't had much time to play with them



but I did add some to this piece here, it was sprayed with Adirondack inks and silk paints and while wet I sprinkled some of the powder on top, not how you are supposed to add it, but thought I would see what happens, I only sprayed it with water and it didn't rust but stayed a gunmetal colour, I over sprayed with Moonglow Moonshadow mists, then painted on some Golden gel matt medium, when applying the medium it was making the underlying colours run.
I sprinkled the rust powder on and spritzed it with white vinegar a few times.
It was interesting to see the rust that was originally applied started to show through on the left hand side and bottom left




As the rust dried I could still see the gel medium creating a shiny streak so over sprayed the lot with Moonshadow Mist Gossamer Gold, this knocked back the shine and still allowed the rust to show through, can't wait to play with this some more.

Late postcard

I finally made Joannes card for October, very very late, apologies to everyone.

This is the base fabric, calico, tissue paper and paint.with a hint of gold



Over the top I place a piece of dark grey organza that had been foiled with silver foil. so the silver and gold are covered in the October wording :) then free machined flowers, I was going to zap with the heat gun, but just haven't got the time to do another one if it went wrong so I chickened out.

As always trying to get a photograph of anything metallic was a nightmare, it is a lot darker with hints of the foil and the background showing through.

Cushion

I didn't do the old film and stitch yesterday after all, the foiled samples I made were sitting looking at me and I decided to place a burnt orange organza over the gold foil and machine stitch into it, I love this meandering effect, it makes the organza catch the light with a wonderful glow from the foil beneath, I spent ages looking for an old Chinese coin to put in the centre, and after searching through my big box of beads and bits found this piece from an old necklace, I made a small cushion 8" x 8" and as soon as I had finished found the coin I had been looking for :)

Catching up on myself

After losing a lot of my work in progress from the computer last month, I have been busy the last few weeks catching up with my articles for Fibre & Stitch, I did some samples on foiling, and made a few mirrors.
Its so nice to be caught up at last.
