<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The start of a new year is always a time to reflect on what I want to acheive in the months ahead. This year I want to finally work on things planned over two years ago. Life took a big swerve back in August 2016 and continued in this vein for another 18 months, it is only now I feel able to get back into the workroom and start creating again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This week while tidying up my paint cupboard I found a small tin with lots of snippets of rusted papers and fabrics. Most of the papers were very brittle and did not lend themselves to being stitched down to a background, especially on the machine as the rust was quite loose on the surface and I did not want to risk using my machine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I really liked some of the scraps I decided to lay them out and take a picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9fK2SFWMDB9O8vMe-FScxz-MqwA9tEepuRh-A3IobBLBMcINlFj8OO69c4rIv4roxlRB0zqmeAmdD28QxniT-qIaIFHB8cqToDyC0EWwzVNsWrtQKLNx7a7QoWru5mReE3ArJ/s1600/20190112_123830_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="981" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9fK2SFWMDB9O8vMe-FScxz-MqwA9tEepuRh-A3IobBLBMcINlFj8OO69c4rIv4roxlRB0zqmeAmdD28QxniT-qIaIFHB8cqToDyC0EWwzVNsWrtQKLNx7a7QoWru5mReE3ArJ/s320/20190112_123830_resized.jpg" width="196" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once laid out I took a photograph and loaded this into the computer, I played around with the filters and liked the Artic and Slate. I printed out all three images.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqDpzMG2G4lRcWUMeGOpPVOu9Q4XTMs2XkmjmQSLVWwo7l88xLgLoF4aq6s-BSkCSxD8vDz-OYTr_dY-1zFQGerhwYepgZzaB2_98uhrJdE1FLEOI0jHrkjMWFpzKj3JYVAToL/s1600/2019-01-12+15.57.14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="793" data-original-width="1600" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqDpzMG2G4lRcWUMeGOpPVOu9Q4XTMs2XkmjmQSLVWwo7l88xLgLoF4aq6s-BSkCSxD8vDz-OYTr_dY-1zFQGerhwYepgZzaB2_98uhrJdE1FLEOI0jHrkjMWFpzKj3JYVAToL/s320/2019-01-12+15.57.14.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I chose the Artic image and printed this onto THREADS fabric sheets, a lovely cotton poplin.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyWIFO9iDHDajz45s2gAmhUCIyX1Ulk4ZACubeojQsT9mCZgxvCCv8VkTypEvIkB3lh6lp-1gYEfsE3xnuhxVw5FkLylxbf4jveT16du2FCAk2-1oj4P7UzKxXKWnMGsNqxch/s1600/2019-01-12+15.58.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="992" data-original-width="1600" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyWIFO9iDHDajz45s2gAmhUCIyX1Ulk4ZACubeojQsT9mCZgxvCCv8VkTypEvIkB3lh6lp-1gYEfsE3xnuhxVw5FkLylxbf4jveT16du2FCAk2-1oj4P7UzKxXKWnMGsNqxch/s320/2019-01-12+15.58.40.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Slate image was printed onto Lazertran transfer paper. Ready to be ironed onto cotton fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm9K7drc4sgKtUQ4LIx-49RGpdM6Qmlu_aoDQF-vgLF1K9uHYBwi4D7RYNQQynppBN7e6MGMrJiA3rCF2We-S6qwLAUIyPErAeZZKB6_ctE8FMYVzB01mf81S0jqTvrDlb2ttc/s1600/20190112_124636_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1142" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm9K7drc4sgKtUQ4LIx-49RGpdM6Qmlu_aoDQF-vgLF1K9uHYBwi4D7RYNQQynppBN7e6MGMrJiA3rCF2We-S6qwLAUIyPErAeZZKB6_ctE8FMYVzB01mf81S0jqTvrDlb2ttc/s320/20190112_124636_resized.jpg" width="228" /></a></div>
<br />
While printing out images the printer that does edge to edge decided it didn't want to do the colours in the right order, despite being reset and new inks.<br />
The next batch were put through our basic printer, can't get edge to edge and it kept stopping half way through, I didn't want to waste my fabric sheets so kept putting the same one through a couple of times turning them around so have some images overlapped. I think part of the problem was the fabric sheets were US size and so slightly wider than A4.<br />
I won't throw these away but chop into them to use in future projects.<br />
Meanwhile I intend to work into the samples I do have with stitch and maybe some more colour.<br />
Watch this space.<br />

<span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: large;">It is hard to believe it has been nearly 12 months since I last posted, but life got in the way and didn't leave much time or energy for creating, which meant nothing to blog about. </span></span></span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">What better time to make a new start than Spring, I am planning to keep up to date with new work and ideas, so watch this space.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">In November I bought a Brother Scan-n-Cut so one thing I want to do is make my own stencils and masks using Mylar and Doeflex as well as using it with fabrics such as Lutradur and Pelmet Vilene. I was delighted at how cleanly this machine cuts all of these materials.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">I didn't really get a chance to explore what this machine could do until a few weeks ago so after playing around with card trying out settings my first proper attempt was to use Vinyl to create a decal for my husbands scooter.</span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The next was to make something a little bigger for the glove box on the scooter, quite a learning curve, working out how to kiss cut so I didn't rip through the backing and my mat.</span></span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The last few days I have been thinking of making stencils, it took longer to decide on a design as every motif I thought of has been done to death, so I decided to create simple mark making designs, starting with the letter 'i' from the text folder on the machine, I repeated the letter and made it different sizes, I like the fact the dot over the 'i' became oval as it stretched. I cut these from card and was quite pleased with the result from such a simple source.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY0wL6suC8mGQAXvx4wEzkziHQYdLnBkVoH1al8HkOMLGea5kXma6rAu9Mp7X-uXJLl7syaKTVr2meACwAI-SoDp5OpZiaXRvJMpnoQhY9SbA6zRxUuoXp-DxudcIuVaCTQufF/s1600/I+on+SNC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="304" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY0wL6suC8mGQAXvx4wEzkziHQYdLnBkVoH1al8HkOMLGea5kXma6rAu9Mp7X-uXJLl7syaKTVr2meACwAI-SoDp5OpZiaXRvJMpnoQhY9SbA6zRxUuoXp-DxudcIuVaCTQufF/s320/I+on+SNC.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The next exercise was to try the same thing on Brother Scan-n Cut Canvas, I don't find this site easy, but I am sure it will get easier once I have used it a bit more.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This was useful in learning how to get the design from the computer to a USB stick and onto the SNC.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I cut this out first in white card and then in Mylar.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDR2bk9bcPr1IjHf2-RCZigUigPbl63Os1IC7u6t1TfoIIQR0CFm-RbFD8aNPXAnVOInJnMbPa6o_rCxAE4tM8plljvv-H9tvY898UZwio3FwV9AfMOuXSsDhveOFtHu5UaYcJ/s1600/I+on+SNC+Canvas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="273" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDR2bk9bcPr1IjHf2-RCZigUigPbl63Os1IC7u6t1TfoIIQR0CFm-RbFD8aNPXAnVOInJnMbPa6o_rCxAE4tM8plljvv-H9tvY898UZwio3FwV9AfMOuXSsDhveOFtHu5UaYcJ/s320/I+on+SNC+Canvas.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Before I could make any stencils I had to test cut my Mylar, as you can see it took a lot of tries, after test cutting the Mylar many times even with the blade set to 12 and pressure 2 it wouldn't cut. I put in a new blade and finally achieved the result I wanted.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I had noticed my blade seemed to need a higher setting on card and a new recommended card I bought wasn't cutting cleanly after I had made the second decal on Vinyl, I kept checking the blade and it looked fine, I thought it was just getting duller, but on closer inspection with a magnifying glass the tip was missing, I think one of the close turns on the lettering must have damaged it.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It would have saved a good amount of time if I had changed the blade sooner but I shall know better next time.</span></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHnu9wr7EDeBG3RK7jh8y9uzmhlIA4FMgZ4i94Uv-hiQihivXevyadeg2uVAMZIP5I4bRHicREZPsrbbHOsK2dPYIXCpXXhL1B-Zm4wRH6YHGlafeFe0E4pFhcDShFw8Xd99n/s1600/Testing+Mylar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHnu9wr7EDeBG3RK7jh8y9uzmhlIA4FMgZ4i94Uv-hiQihivXevyadeg2uVAMZIP5I4bRHicREZPsrbbHOsK2dPYIXCpXXhL1B-Zm4wRH6YHGlafeFe0E4pFhcDShFw8Xd99n/s320/Testing+Mylar.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The first design on the Mylar was to cut the letter 'i' as above, then stripes and squares taken from the built in designs on the SNC</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-RnsI2Sa4hwrPp-PqeEdXEatUs88wVrk_A6TSbsaul8P33qfS5CnI_e6b877ySNQMpLDxNN7PO0jaJ_0X1llxGtK3yRnW80hDp-Tey7cf9TwO9zsUf9_DEDt3pI_5kACfkn1D/s1600/Scan+and+draw+on+SNC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqHntncP1OiPHXZWubImEuYwC4wBfviFIxMy_wd4ZfOSd4OKAgZ4YQdp61uSpFjRclCbmMisCDm92HlOLrYSumlY49kQj6JtYXhoA4QYe2yKfIrf1vF9lPxhz5cNObCv3XdXpw/s1600/Squares+and+Stripes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqHntncP1OiPHXZWubImEuYwC4wBfviFIxMy_wd4ZfOSd4OKAgZ4YQdp61uSpFjRclCbmMisCDm92HlOLrYSumlY49kQj6JtYXhoA4QYe2yKfIrf1vF9lPxhz5cNObCv3XdXpw/s320/Squares+and+Stripes.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">My next tryout on the machine was to create a drawn image, scan it and make a cutting file, this turned into quite a saga, below was my first little sketch about 3" high. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I drew it in pencil so that it would possibly give me a worn edge once enlarged as it does in photocopies.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />The next move was to trace the image on layout paper with a permanent pen, the result when this was scanned was bizzare creating so many lines I didn't bother even drawing it out. </span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Time for plan B, I chose a heart from the designs on the machine, stretched it out to 5" high and 3 1/2" wide, I then cut this out on black card, cut the card up the middle and cut the small nicks out, placed this on the scan mat and loaded it in the machine</span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Tried again with another heart, cut diagonally and punched some holes around the edge, but of course once cut in the Mylar it just left the heart aperture as the holes were not bridged to the outer edges Doh! </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This would work with the inner heart pieces as a mask.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">The last few years have been great mainly due to the lovely ladies I was exhibiting with in Arial Arts. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Making things to sell is not what I am about, I like to create as the mood takes me and have lots of ideas for the next few months.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Not much creativity in the last couple of months as I went down with the virus that seems to be affecting everyone this winter, it lasted over 7 weeks and then Christmas was upon us.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have decided it is time for me to learn to crochet properly, I can do
the stitches, but they never went where I wanted them to go, it is those

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">While my room was being reorganised I wasn't completely idle, even though working with my stash scattered all over the flat was difficult. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I have been doing some short half day courses with Coleg Harlech, last term we were printing fabrics, natural dyeing and rust dyeing </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I enjoyed the rust dyeing, the fabrics used below are calico, cotton, Lutradur, scrim and even the plastic bags the rusty bits were resting on.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSuPFXYUQ2UwehEnaOviYAOLnh68SpLOxGDpy1o2Ss-KoZuo0nh8u7oRD2k_Tn6wJ0BurzQk-OpVfb8nuqVUUEb_uKIj1EsTkLvnD9xaaJweZBny6TJmShNF_fDFBcBOwEkUyq/s1600/rust+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSuPFXYUQ2UwehEnaOviYAOLnh68SpLOxGDpy1o2Ss-KoZuo0nh8u7oRD2k_Tn6wJ0BurzQk-OpVfb8nuqVUUEb_uKIj1EsTkLvnD9xaaJweZBny6TJmShNF_fDFBcBOwEkUyq/s1600/rust+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I used the Lutradur squares to make a booklet, they started off 12 " square and became a 6" folding book.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">My natural dye experiments were not very successful as I was on holiday the week we were covering it in class, I don't have much greenery in my garden and most of the best berries had gone by the time I had a play at home.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">It was interesting to have a go, but I don't think I will be doing any more</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">This term we are covering stitch, mainly hand stitch and also reverse applique and faux chenille.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I am enjoying rediscovering hand stitch, as I am working on some new items of my own at the moment I am keeping my samples for this term small.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">This was the first stitch sample, using lots of the fabrics from last term.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">First to go was the shelves and long worktop, all the paint filled drawers underneath went on the landing, its a good size so they can stay out there. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinrRgbVxK7dOpy2HT4ZtoajnLuwDYcqDJfxuPT-XBdLZ71HhQtFjLel0y-ng0ZXvvuNGJmSd81RMsNUCXBq3FFME0qRmVPJCPlP2KQjTR3apBEVET4PKtFDppVJz6Y5CU_qZQv/s1600/makeover+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinrRgbVxK7dOpy2HT4ZtoajnLuwDYcqDJfxuPT-XBdLZ71HhQtFjLel0y-ng0ZXvvuNGJmSd81RMsNUCXBq3FFME0qRmVPJCPlP2KQjTR3apBEVET4PKtFDppVJz6Y5CU_qZQv/s1600/makeover+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Next this was delivered and built ready to be filled. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgvJQvMG6mBIS_t5_Ii2FxOinTr6uSBr3uTR7Rf9bO8yVOoGaAwxOr2KmWTanDYVROFNH1WPF1kVeZlHYFcR5kOMelNtoj7Ho99tn6V8-_M3AY4cvcahwgCcsXanx3ugnziixj/s1600/Makeover+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgvJQvMG6mBIS_t5_Ii2FxOinTr6uSBr3uTR7Rf9bO8yVOoGaAwxOr2KmWTanDYVROFNH1WPF1kVeZlHYFcR5kOMelNtoj7Ho99tn6V8-_M3AY4cvcahwgCcsXanx3ugnziixj/s1600/Makeover+2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> The worst job was taking out the fitted wardrobe, this left a gap in the wallpaper on the ceiling and in the laminate floor, floor and ceiling were sorted and the old shelves and my sewing desk made a new home for my paperwork and computer.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAba5IoudX_8gT66JhTO8H6gHnaDIGrU9RGFMViOnrBr2A5pWVL0rKoe9kSMHrHJLbMsYs5XtfeDSyNbB_VmFaHBa2Q1JWm9lwRFUtENVG0mEkKP73mCQmNIBOaAxttpdNHeiG/s1600/makeover+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAba5IoudX_8gT66JhTO8H6gHnaDIGrU9RGFMViOnrBr2A5pWVL0rKoe9kSMHrHJLbMsYs5XtfeDSyNbB_VmFaHBa2Q1JWm9lwRFUtENVG0mEkKP73mCQmNIBOaAxttpdNHeiG/s1600/makeover+3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">A trip to Ikea for another shelf unit an add on desk and some lovely canvas boxes for all my material </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIANDeFx4nhTgWvVkXka93m_S1gwATVsVv-UBZ10IXhqijUk1QUsEIkL_hD-4yoWOm51RGbQ6D99R1OZJL7zbgU3g_Q0NM8CDz3cZGnRuyTM3mVW2xtHQ83Xn55YK1Jgr4hZoj/s1600/Makeover+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIANDeFx4nhTgWvVkXka93m_S1gwATVsVv-UBZ10IXhqijUk1QUsEIkL_hD-4yoWOm51RGbQ6D99R1OZJL7zbgU3g_Q0NM8CDz3cZGnRuyTM3mVW2xtHQ83Xn55YK1Jgr4hZoj/s1600/Makeover+4.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I can work either side of the desk and the little drawer sets fit well with my tub of rolled fabric just squeezing in the gap. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuj1aMKyCavzGQYko0txODQa61QBnCGNQbuLIUnUKvE5Ugq9nfHq-EhTesepAZIy-14nx2WhWXd7KVT5rUFORBNEDL45p7DBk5zcds-vakaZXzOOAHhddM_GcPBcP8g2TL0FO_/s1600/Makeover+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuj1aMKyCavzGQYko0txODQa61QBnCGNQbuLIUnUKvE5Ugq9nfHq-EhTesepAZIy-14nx2WhWXd7KVT5rUFORBNEDL45p7DBk5zcds-vakaZXzOOAHhddM_GcPBcP8g2TL0FO_/s1600/Makeover+5.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I decided to put the roll out table under the computer</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3r1k7dfhLGMGDQg0DPspcAtWafH7cWLwrNeEPqlcO2wF5djZYxBITg4ZkkZbu87m_ui6uL52-Ff32iH8uI8AIcUsglrQf9FjBBgHdaj6LDJafGvuBCjnr3Lvo8knjg4ix5Le_/s1600/Makeover+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3r1k7dfhLGMGDQg0DPspcAtWafH7cWLwrNeEPqlcO2wF5djZYxBITg4ZkkZbu87m_ui6uL52-Ff32iH8uI8AIcUsglrQf9FjBBgHdaj6LDJafGvuBCjnr3Lvo8knjg4ix5Le_/s1600/Makeover+6.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I haven't been completely idle, but, after taking part in Helf Gelf, a weeks holiday and starting a course </span><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">in September</span>, my room had become unworkable.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I took some photo's to try and shame myself into not letting it get like this again, and I still didn't blog it.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I had already had a good clear out and rearranged the room before this mess and thought it would be workable to have the computer near the desk, wrong, I just ended up in a clutter nest.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgloBeo9nVWWUxxUJfdhZX770ag4C5xr_FeZy-yLADAHcnJr80ZJhlo3xrAbd4IOX6ZqF0FqnnwpILB75xeW3JEns3Dkt4UUM_dh458AQ0CYvluIj2JJNEuGuG_AbI6YF-_daFD/s1600/Mess+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgloBeo9nVWWUxxUJfdhZX770ag4C5xr_FeZy-yLADAHcnJr80ZJhlo3xrAbd4IOX6ZqF0FqnnwpILB75xeW3JEns3Dkt4UUM_dh458AQ0CYvluIj2JJNEuGuG_AbI6YF-_daFD/s1600/Mess+3.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> The other end of the room I had a good 8ft worktop for the messy work, but it was always piled high</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQdo97x5rRot1ZpMH60jjnvRQm-taDF0EUYsv9FtEni5sqPZPA6N6al6IcVnAkoyIDPAI0esrVVTpBipgyb-u6Zb0M18H-6MvQN5Oi3WJVfXrfa03kKfIMUkW81O4lR2lp5Zw/s1600/Mess+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQdo97x5rRot1ZpMH60jjnvRQm-taDF0EUYsv9FtEni5sqPZPA6N6al6IcVnAkoyIDPAI0esrVVTpBipgyb-u6Zb0M18H-6MvQN5Oi3WJVfXrfa03kKfIMUkW81O4lR2lp5Zw/s1600/Mess+4.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Even worse behind my sewing desk a huge pile of boxes, bags and fabrics meant I couldn't reach anything in my wardrobe to get to my fabric stash without moving everything out.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Having to step over the bags on the floor to reach the worktop.</span><br />
<br />
<br />

Only a couple of weeks to go to the Embroiderer's Guild, North Wales Branch, Bi-Annual Exhibition.<br />
<br />
It is our branches 40th Anniversary this year and everyone has been working hard to make this exhibition extra special. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21728136.post-53583535229936523222013-04-28T12:06:00.000+01:002013-04-28T12:06:09.268+01:00<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large;">Once
again, Plas Tan Y Bwlch was a wonderful experience, it was very
difficult this year to pick a tutor, all three courses sounded tempting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large;">Lynda Monk, Wendy Dolan and Jenny Bullen </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large;">The
weekend consisted of hard work, good food and wonderful company, and of
course, not forgetting the legendary Bread and Butter pudding. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large;">I
chose to do Lynda's course, and I wasn't disappointed, Lynda is a
fantastic tutor, she kept us busy from the minute we arrived in 'the
mucky room' and amazed us with different techniques the whole weekend,
her generosity with her knowledge and materials was incredible.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large;">I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we all enjoyed our weekend with Lynda.</span></div>

<br />
Back again, like the buses don't see one for ages then 3 come along together :) </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
After enjoying myself making, dyeing and painting for a couple of weeks, </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
I went to Manchester to meet up with my husband on his last weekend, he was at 'work' during the day and I had a lovely time roaming around Manchester, I had forgotten how much I like this city, I enjoyed the Picnic in the park at Piccadilly Gardens with great music and food on offer, the Lowry exhibition at Salford Quays.</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><a href="http://www.blogger.com/%20http://www.thelowry.com/exhibitions/microsites/a-lowry-summer/home" style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The Lowry Exhibition</a><br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
and best of all the 62 Group @ 50 exhibition I arrived early I had plenty of time to look around and talk to Jae Maries who was stewarding that day, fabulous work on show, if you missed it it will be at the K&S shows later in the year</div>
<a href="http://www.62group.org.uk/news/6250-current-exhibition/" style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">62 group @50</a><br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
Arriving home and getting back to normal I was back in the workroom ready to get some pieces finished, </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
( okay if I am honest just starting ) for <a href="http://www.helfagelf.org/en/">Helfa Gelf</a> this is our group <a href="http://www.helfagelf.co.uk/en/artists/arial-arts">Arial Arts</a>.</div>
<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
I tried to start creating some fabric with the molding paste on Lutradur and couldn't get the tub open, I must have forgotten to rub the lid with Vaseline last time I used it, </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
being impatient and wanting to start work while I was in the mood I looked around to see what I could use and my eye fell on the PVA tub that I use in a lot of things I do lately, I use the builder grade which is quite thick, I spread it over my mask and left it to dry, I used the heat gun to burn away the Lutradur and the glue bubbled and flaked leaving an interesting texture.</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRLsXHAvG7tNOf7GMiQ0E7Xtx6b8o3R8SOc83LiXkGLKpAMlqs50GRwMeYuj1HBxc8Z3C34EoUAIyaHLhN9-CX4KdT_NChXs05n_kuk0NmDnRQCkl6neDjDB-kW7-hwYhwLsZC/s1600/4.jpg"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRLsXHAvG7tNOf7GMiQ0E7Xtx6b8o3R8SOc83LiXkGLKpAMlqs50GRwMeYuj1HBxc8Z3C34EoUAIyaHLhN9-CX4KdT_NChXs05n_kuk0NmDnRQCkl6neDjDB-kW7-hwYhwLsZC/s320/4.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The next sample I decided to heat straight away while it was wet and
it bubbled and popped but the Lutradur burnt away and the resulting piece
was ready for painting within 10 minutes.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The image is not as clean as when I use the molding paste on the masks but I really like the results like old paint flaking off walls and using different designs will possibly give a more worn and weathered look to the image</span>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0FttVX14ksL3MTt3K2IOWYELx57BPQNtzQe9VazCKpE69c9CWAjI34pRWgBoOP9x1WqRc2A7gXkz2Kyo1QVjBFz43sC1orN8w0dNjmQyhczRhsheSHHQeMJogVDSbaXxq7-3_/s1600/11.jpg"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0FttVX14ksL3MTt3K2IOWYELx57BPQNtzQe9VazCKpE69c9CWAjI34pRWgBoOP9x1WqRc2A7gXkz2Kyo1QVjBFz43sC1orN8w0dNjmQyhczRhsheSHHQeMJogVDSbaXxq7-3_/s320/11.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I thought the surface needed a bit more texture so I added some Polyfilla powder to the PVA and after applying with the spatula tapped the surface to make it more textured</span>, <span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">this was left to dry</span>.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij8vFKTX_UdyMgG3u_fugZ6d48JLT1DKPUnx0MfB-so24jIs5FLMeddefElZ7j_3Wz3hkUxvEC7TkMoYfNoeJptaCoozjkl_i_dAWgEZVVJcCZ1gzX-y6geZ6DqZSJAAb7QW93/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij8vFKTX_UdyMgG3u_fugZ6d48JLT1DKPUnx0MfB-so24jIs5FLMeddefElZ7j_3Wz3hkUxvEC7TkMoYfNoeJptaCoozjkl_i_dAWgEZVVJcCZ1gzX-y6geZ6DqZSJAAb7QW93/s320/2.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJE2EyhuNT2WsPDiOG9qB4tqNxB4koCUP0mLY1gLBNSJV4WQWh8K8eibFy31Kcwk9Q5p2VJDPQD6_wuaT7CjmvCQIbZ02NSU0w8S4MVBsvmIcfcRmtAyhwzpSPzM05C_oPG5-C/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1"></a>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Once dry I burnt away the surface of the Lutradur, sample below.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiif9sEQns4GvlXdeRJc3wP9_JavyrWW8YUGeknlxU5SHL8WKS1z5Mysc4l2Mk-qgHuLORifRPZxZXTIgsFyvd8ELCqKVzfjKDtGCb8wSpjfJbNTzKiODNV_3Oc9KM1-Qbkm8We/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiif9sEQns4GvlXdeRJc3wP9_JavyrWW8YUGeknlxU5SHL8WKS1z5Mysc4l2Mk-qgHuLORifRPZxZXTIgsFyvd8ELCqKVzfjKDtGCb8wSpjfJbNTzKiODNV_3Oc9KM1-Qbkm8We/s320/3.jpg" width="240" /></a>
<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This sample was made the same as the one above but I burnt away the Lutradur while still wet and it worked a treat, in fact I think it gives more definition to the design, and the great thing is you can start the painting on it straight away, </span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJE2EyhuNT2WsPDiOG9qB4tqNxB4koCUP0mLY1gLBNSJV4WQWh8K8eibFy31Kcwk9Q5p2VJDPQD6_wuaT7CjmvCQIbZ02NSU0w8S4MVBsvmIcfcRmtAyhwzpSPzM05C_oPG5-C/s1600/1.jpg"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJE2EyhuNT2WsPDiOG9qB4tqNxB4koCUP0mLY1gLBNSJV4WQWh8K8eibFy31Kcwk9Q5p2VJDPQD6_wuaT7CjmvCQIbZ02NSU0w8S4MVBsvmIcfcRmtAyhwzpSPzM05C_oPG5-C/s320/1.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">As the PVA had worked so well on Lutradur I thought I would try it on scrim, PVA on its own was left to dry, the glue was barely visible when it dried but the result after painting was a delicate design showing up. I will take a few pictures once I have painted them some more.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzPIPkVqOg8SDGYsae0oAKmQzPoCk31Rj7z__J7xME7G1R7fCTAZoDbKooLLvTNPRMU2Mzc-frTglG8qgEgTjuei8hZc0-Xpptmi40PC3I5cDTd2QSqoy7lMldjG-UGRudeJst/s1600/10.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzPIPkVqOg8SDGYsae0oAKmQzPoCk31Rj7z__J7xME7G1R7fCTAZoDbKooLLvTNPRMU2Mzc-frTglG8qgEgTjuei8hZc0-Xpptmi40PC3I5cDTd2QSqoy7lMldjG-UGRudeJst/s320/10.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The piece below was PVA mixed with the Polyfilla and applied through a stencil with a spatula and left to dry. </span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUV3CXz23eN6gVzOzeu-w3sm_bxRE8T_wnfaPo2VNgQ5Flc45S-OJAcyQa7SzTvhvydCeSNrKzSY3PRuCHOdnVDgByWWpmpfX5Dbu2IwsviJjc1C8optqnksXiD1jcMXy_XUBk/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUV3CXz23eN6gVzOzeu-w3sm_bxRE8T_wnfaPo2VNgQ5Flc45S-OJAcyQa7SzTvhvydCeSNrKzSY3PRuCHOdnVDgByWWpmpfX5Dbu2IwsviJjc1C8optqnksXiD1jcMXy_XUBk/s320/8.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Once dry when you turn it over the design is raised through the scrim the same as when I do it with molding paste as seen in the bag belo, </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVp3-M7rzsVExPOdEEip2KojsfnTHh9U9OlQcp9BepCkFFaqOMXsmyqNtRfb_VOss4RXPJGQE3_AJJb4rZ_q8Cyzj7yc8QJH8wFgsZvchtL_2mHQJ62GLHv2K3cnWnRXWxu4EQ/s1600/7.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVp3-M7rzsVExPOdEEip2KojsfnTHh9U9OlQcp9BepCkFFaqOMXsmyqNtRfb_VOss4RXPJGQE3_AJJb4rZ_q8Cyzj7yc8QJH8wFgsZvchtL_2mHQJ62GLHv2K3cnWnRXWxu4EQ/s320/7.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">because Polyfilla had been added to the PVA I was not sure if the glue would stay on the fabric once it had been handled so I scrunched it up into a ball and then painted it, there was no cracking or flaking</span><br />
<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This is the bag that molding paste was put onto scrim the purple and green is the paste area and the gold is the surface showing through the scrim.</span><br />

<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
I needed to find out if the PVA could be heat gunned on the scrim while it was wet and it worked, I kept flipping it from back to front while I was drying it and it was ready for painting within ten minutes. </div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The down side of this is you have to be very careful when moving the scrim while wet as it can distort the design but if you are making fragments it won't matter, also if you use an ink or dye to colour the scrim the glue will go tacky while it is wet, it dries out okay though, acrylic paints dry brushed on the surface is fine.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-96h1fgdKAR5E1OJYoD8w6jJ8VrWKL5AbKfhLG2J_giIh-3bTl3Hwgb31Zgdo_bw5Y1cUiO8lBIxYBn3t6DPY7GeirqNW8_-0o-D0LWOxiCsfoLpQJ0rtg0ffAaPgAeeEPO_Z/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-96h1fgdKAR5E1OJYoD8w6jJ8VrWKL5AbKfhLG2J_giIh-3bTl3Hwgb31Zgdo_bw5Y1cUiO8lBIxYBn3t6DPY7GeirqNW8_-0o-D0LWOxiCsfoLpQJ0rtg0ffAaPgAeeEPO_Z/s320/6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;" />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This
will be a good addition to my workshop as we can go ahead with the
painting technique without waiting for the molding paste to dry</span> <span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">or preparing samples ahead of time</span>.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21728136.post-25692108267686061952012-09-02T15:17:00.000+01:002012-09-02T15:53:59.401+01:00Time Flies 2I was lucky enough to have the loan of this wonderful wrought iron, after taking lots of pictures of it I fancy making a few stencils based on the design.<br />

The piece below is on Lutradur, I rubbed the surface with a selection of 6 Tim Holtz distress inks then spritzed with water for the colours to blend, the are not showing up very well but have a lovely soft glow to the surface of the Lutradur<br />

This sample below is a piece of nuno felt I made a while ago, I tried foiling the finished fabric and put it to one side, while the wire wool was out I added it to the pile to see what would happen to the foil, the merino wool was fine, the strip of mulberry silk down the centre turned greyish and the foil remained unscathed?<br />

Wet painted things all over the floor of the workroom, boxes of fabric, sewing machine and embellisher on the dining table.
I had my dye supplies out in the kitchen, I mixed up three different combinations of colours and none of them turned out as I had hoped.
This picture shows all the left over dyes poured onto some scrim and the result was great lol

I also pulled out some wire wool and white vinegar and rusted some fabrics,<br />

I managed to finish a vessel for a friend who wanted her artist friends to create alternative table centre pieces for her daughters wedding.
We had a get together with coffee and cake to view all the final pieces but I forgot my camera, so as soon as one of the others sends me some copies I will share the results, it was a lot of fun and lovely to see the work all together.<br />
<br />
I also finished a wall piece for the All Wales exhibition in Cardiff at The Pier Head Gallery, a group of us are going down for the day to see it, I hope to get
some photo's while we are there.

you can see the original post <a href="http://textiletales.blogspot.co.uk/2009/03/little-book.html">here</a>

I decided to take a piece of calico and wadding and just doodle stitch, I have been making this piece for what seems like years and I finally finished it yesterday at a meeting with some textile friends, it is now covered in molding paste ready for some layers of paint.

I have decided to make a bag as the original feels like leather and has stood up to a lot of handling, don't think I have the patience to stitch the back so may try something different.
