Here is the finished canvas, what a horror to photograph, thanks to my wonderful other half, who took loads of pictures and sorted it out for me.
The background has come out quite true in colour but the fabric looks a little darker than the real thing.

Carol, many congratulations on a finished treasure! Looks terrific and having watched the progress is all the more interesting to see all done and dusted.

Remind me, where is it destined for?

Thanks Gill
It is a suprise gift for my nephew, as he is always trying to get my Mum to give him a piece of work I made, that she has hanging in her house.

Oh, Carol, It's so beautiful. Your nephew is a very lucky man. I also liked it at the punultimate stage - do those wonderful colours show through the copper more than the photo shows? Thanks for sharing it with us. Will you do more like this?

Thanks Sue,Yes the deep colours just come through in the furrows of the textured surface, and the fabric shows the layers of colours quite a lot more than the picture shows.
I think I may be tempted to do a larger version for our lounge, but in a different colour way, don't usually do things twice, but I have had quite a few ideas sparked from this

Carol, this is stunning, what a fabulous process. The kids are home on holidays, I think they would have fun doing something like this. Thankyou for sharing.

I was delighted to stumble across your site and find this exquisite textural piece. The combination of needlework and paint create a tension that is powerful and seductive. Thank you for documenting your process as I'm strongly tempted to begin merging several different media myself. You've jump-started me into a new direction and I'm curious to see where it leads!
Thank you!
