playing around

This weekend I have allowed my self some play time,
When I am working on a project I always have other bits around that I work on in stages, this velvet had been foiled a while ago, and while working on something else, I wiped my brush which was loaded with Daler Rowney interference colour, to see what it would look like, I liked the result and so painted the whole length, yesterday I decided to stitch into it,this is my first play result, more to come

Very, very nice. What type of velvet is it - cotton or silk? I love it standing upright like in the first photo - would make a gorgeous vessel. And in the second photo it would make a wonderful bag.
Did the paint or foil flake off when you machined into it? Did your machine put up any resistance to sewing into the paint and the foil?
