Well, another week gone by and I have not done much, a pulled muscle in my back meant I was out of action and following on from that some kind of bug, luckily with the help of lots of Lemsip, it did not last long and I was able to go on Saturday to Frodsham with my friend Jenny to the Cheshire Spinners and Weavers Guild, it was a lovely day filled with a very friendly bunch of ladies, spinning away on the very many different wheels, trying out lots of sample yarns provided by Wingham Wool Works, I bought some Sari yarn and as I am not a knitter I shall be couching down the threads onto fabric. I also bought a lovely turned wood crochet hook size 15mm, and some Merino Tops in Olive Green and sharp Lime Green. I also fell in love with a small folding Heddle Loom, I have never done any weaving, but with all the exciting yarns around now, it is becoming more tempting, and my friend Sue B has tempted me some more, by reminding me of all the other wonderful things that can be woven.

The sari yarn is great isn't it? I saw some at a knitting event recently and have rekindled my long forgotten (30 years or more) interest in knitting so I can have a go at using some in a scarf!!

Helen, I think the Sari yarn is a bit scratchy, the Noru yarns look very similar and seem softer, so many yarns now make even me want to knit, and I am the worlds slowest knitter:)

I too have succumbed to the Sari yarn. Just say "silk" and I'm there. My first thought was couching on fabric too, and bought a skein for myself and a friend. Although I haven't knitted or crocheted for years, I suddenly got the urge to knit a sweater or vest from this...until I realized how many skeins I'd need - way more money than I could drop! So I bought a second skein and crocheted a handbag. I get tons of compliments on it - or more precisely, the yarn it is made from.

Yes, it is a bit scratchy and has the occasional pokey debris in it so I'm glad I didn't try something that would be next to my skin. I still want to couch with it.

yummy sari yarn!! I am still very tempted to buy some but keep asking myself "Do you really need it" what a silly question - of course I do but have more fiber and yarn in my stash than I could use if I live till I'm 100 but then we are going to Harrogate aint we my friend? whoops!!

Oh love the colours of the merino and the wooden crochet hook looks like a pleasure to use. I have knitted a handbag out of sari silk and in a moment of madness (well it was so cheap)I bought a kilo of it and its still waiting to be made into something!! (& yes it is a bit scratchy but softens when washed ) Just spent the day with Jenny and I think I may be looking at a small loom before long; that girl is way too dangerous LOL!! Hope I see you soon Annie
