Buttonholes

This is the shirt front with the Potassium Permanganate, love the effect but it can rot the fabric if the crystals don't dissolve quickly, ask me how I know, although this fabric is about 8 years old, and still going.

I like the buttonholes too. Did you try discharging with lemon juice when you used the potassium permanganate? I did some samples years ago too, we may have read the same article in 'Embroidery'.

Oooh no I did not try that one, will have to see if I can buy some more, although I think its quite difficult to get hold of now.

Hi Carol, loved your Mgt Beal work!
Also loved Coughdrop's images(s)my faves today though are your buttonhole scraps. Love them. These Thermofax silkscreen things sound handy?

This gives me a whole new perspective on shirt fronts -- I've been cutting off the buttonholes so as to use the rest as "just fabric" -- but don't those buttonholes transform the piece!
