Samples Revisited,

I have been busy creating samples for my article in www.fibreandstitch while waiting for things to dry, I had a look through my box of old samples, some of you may remember I have been using a lot of them for postcards,
This little collage was for a sample in C&G, where we had to create a fabric from paper, I did the usual paper patchwork and tissue paper samples bonded to vilene interfacing, and then decided to tear up a selection of pictures I had taken of my garden, and this was the result.

I had just discovered the possibilities of using the computer, and printed the picture onto Silk Organza, I had never heard of freezer paper at the time and taped the Organza to some copy paper, then burnt the edges with a joss stick, yes that's how I burnt everything before I discovered fine tipped soldering irons. I mounted it onto two layers of Crystal Organza and some hand made paper

The picture below, was printed onto a sheet of Acetate, the inks were running out and
it printed up in really vivid colours, shame I could not repeat this effect.
These have been going strong for around 10 years and are holding up really well.

Having a ball

Well, the last two days I have had a great time organising my fabrics, arranged them all in colour order rather than type. I used to hunt everywhere for matching fabrics, hopefully this will keep me more organised,Ha
I have even thrown some away, okay they were only teeny tiny scraps, but its a start.
another little pile is going for recycle.
BUT, this morning I painted papers, I am on a high and if I had a room the size of a barn. I would be still painting.
The book that Lynda (Purple Missus)
made for me, based on Traci Bautista's books, set my mind racing, I had just bought Traci's book 'Collage Unleashed' and loved it, and being able to hold Lynda's book made it fall into place,
I have mixed up some Dylon cold water dyes, which I always use for colouring my pages, cheaper than ink, and gathered embossed wallpapers, and kitchen roll, but decided today I was in Metallic mood, tried watering down my Paint Magic ( Jocasta Innes) metallic's, but the paint is such a thick consistency even watered down the paper towel wouldn't absorb the paint, so decided to paint, scrape, splash and dab my paint onto white and black papers, I covered both sides, and the photo's don't show the subtleties of all the colours, I used silver, gold, copper, zinc, and ice blue. now they are all dry, I am going t collect some fabrics for this afternoon, paint them ready for the stamping and printing.
I wish I could lock myself in my room for a week.

Lyndas Page For Me

I received the May page from Lynda for the book page swap on Fiberartfriends, it is stupendous, I had a really hard time getting a picture, but if you go here to Lynda Purple Missus blog, you will see a better photo, and she also reveals the secret inside, make sure you read it all, how did she know my weakness :)
I thought my parcel looked a little large for the usual page, and look what I discovered in the box, this amazing book, Lynda was inspired by Traci Bautista's DVD, and just happened to put this together over the weekend, as you do :) the woman is a human dynamo, the pictures as usual don't do justice to the items I received.
I count myself very blessed with the friends I have made on the Internet, thank you so much Lynda
