Once again I have been having a play with a canvas, these seem to develop over time, I start one with the base layer and once that is dry, add a layer when I am in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil or even when I should be cooking something, its easy to get side tracked with my paint table in the corner of the kitchen.
I wanted to get the look of aged metal, but with all my metallic paints running out I threw all sorts on this one, its still not quite what I was after, but its getting there. A few more layers should do the trick.
I am allowing myself this afternoon to have a play with fabrics, a sewing machine a box of fabric and see what happens.

Fantastic!
I'm going to rush off to B&Q and get some samples to use :)
It's actually very difficult to tell what it is you have used.
Looks really good. Would be nice to see a series of these hung together.
Carol, this is amazing! I saw it and thought I'd really like to take a rubbing off it... or leave it to rust and..... can't wait to see it when it's finished.
LOL Liz! My first thought was also to use it for a rubbing. I can see all kinds of possibilities for this technique!
ho gorgeous! What is it about textile artists in the UK... all of my favorites are over the pond. You seem to have a freedom to experiment and don't seem tied into the "quilt" tradition as much as many artists are here. I love it.
I enlarged the photo and just fell in love! I notice on the right-hand side the texture of the canvas coming through [or so I think], but to the left of that, what do I see? I am reminded of tin or punched metal ...?
Thanks for showing us this, Carol. Oh, by the way, love the blog header; well done!
Love the texture and pattern you've got on this canvas.
This looks great Carol, I love tne texture and the colour!
Old metal is exactly what I thought this was. Terrific.
Hi Carol
What a fantastic piece of artwork, I love the relief of the of the pattern, I'm just beginning to figure out how to use canvas, not very well at the moment, but hopefully I'll get the hang of it LOL.
Thank you for your kind comment on my CG blog post.
The design on this canvas is gorgeous - love it!!
I like this a lot, Carol - and will be interested to see what happens to it as I like it a lot already...
Hi!
I agree with Fulvia. The enlargement shows a texture and detail that evokes pure love. It is quite wonderful!

Ilike this a lot,it looks like an ancient tile, very beautiful. the metal effect makes it very precious.
