Last year I bought several of these albums because I liked the fact that the you can unscrew the wooden spine, I had plans to cover the front with painted pelmet vilene, but I made a slip cover and realised because the seam has to be on the outside it sits above the edge of the spine, I didn't like the effect, Last week I decided would put a square of the fibre in-form foil and a charm or something on top, so I cut a square of bondaweb, and carefully ironed this to the vilene cover, it worked great, but as I pulled the iron over the parchment I touched the edge of the cover and the foil stuck to the vilene, so it had ruined my careful square, but I liked the fact the foil stuck direct, I grabbed all the left over foil scraps from my other project and began just laying them randomly on the cover, and ironing it on, this is the result
I wanted to add something to the top and so I stamped some aluminium foil with
Staz-On ink and stitched a border on solufleece, then glued it to the album.
It is a nightmare trying to get a photograph, as the light kept hitting the metal, I may try again this morning before two of the albums are given to some friends.

No wonder you've been quiet :)
These are absolutely fabulous. I love the mix of the coloured foils - so it really is worth keeping your scraps then. Where did you manage to get all these albums by the way? And just out of interest will FIF foil stick to wood as well?
The albums look fabulous, I also love the wood on them, and able to take them apart, just a wonderful treasure to recieve as a present.

A very lovely accident!
What super albums, I've made them myself with strips of wood as I was lucky enough to acquire a whole box of the brass posts and screws, but these are lovely and chunky!
I love the foil effect, it sets off the wood really well, what a lovely personalised gift.
This looks gorgeous Carol! The colours are really fabulous!
Lovely books Carol. I don't suppose you bought them locally by any chance? That was a really fortunate mistake!
Beautiful!!!
They are absolutely great! A happy accident!
Carol, these are gorgeous!!! I have an album just like this, that I bought on a "what if" moment. You have given me some brilliant ideas - thankyou!!!!
Merry Christmas!
Your blog, artwork, and comments have been so very inspirational during this past year. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope the holidays have been filled with laughter, family, and friends and that the coming year be an adventure in creativity, stitching, and experimentation.

I love the natural feel and look of wood - how well the different mediums work together.
